So, it’s getting ever so sticky and hot here in my new home of Austin, TX, and my boys(/band) and I are getting ever so stir-crazy. My bass player, Patrick, I think decided to speak for the whole group when he called me right before his finals week, with no response to my initial greeting of “hey” upon answering the phone besides: “Let’s go.” Me: “Pardon?” Him: “Yeah, I’ve been thinking about it. And we should just go.”

So, we’re coming. The opportunity came up to do a show with Spotlight, Floodlight, the brainlove child of keyboardist/moodsound extroadinaire, Peter Adams, and I couldn’t say no. If any of you ever saw me perform in Los Angeles before I relocated, or happened to see our Carson Daly appearance, Peter was the badass supporting me on the black-and-whites. I’m entirely thrilled to play on the bill with his jazz ensemble next week.

I decided to take my newly formed band out, since we rocked so hard at SXSW this year, and I really wanted to show off my new ensemble to my old CA homies and family (not to mention the new songs!). Sadly our guitar player and dear friend, Chris Mosley, shan’t be joining us on this jaunt up the West Coast due to some previous engagements, but perhaps it’s for the better (we’re all cramming into one little car with all our gear and about 10 bucks in our pockets and praying we make it to every venue in time).

Thanks to an incredible social network of musicians, art collectives, and venues we were able to slap enough dates together to warrant going out on the road. In addition to the Spotlight, Floodlight date, we’ll be be playing San Diego and my old stomping grounds, Orange County (in Santa Ana) with the OCMA’s latest Best Folk winner and old friends of mine, Yellow Red Sparks. The Santa Ana show will be a free and all ages event thanks to the support of SolArt (Radio.com, Design, and where I used to lovingly play when it was SolArt Gallery Cafe back in my Orange days while I lived on Lemon Street). Their design firm is responsible for the beautiful work you saw on the last record. I honestly can’t wait to come home to play your old favorites and a lot of new tunes from my upcoming release, “Were My Sweetheart to Go…”

After we hit up my fave CA hang,Zoey’s, we’ll be sync-ing up some dates to coincide with Gavin Castleton’s last few shows of his West Coast tour, leaving us in Portland, OR. We’ll have to make it snappy back to Austin, TX, but not before we stop by Provo, UT to do a house show with the North Platte Records kids.

I’m sure with eyes barely open we’ll still kick some serious ass at our TWO gigs the day we get back home. I’ll be keeping anyone concerned apprised of our whereabouts, experiences, hilarious conversations, and tour photos at my I LOVE YOUR BONES. blog. (I’ve been known to put a few silly ukulele phone demos up there spontaneously lately as well.)

Pulling back the aggression, but of course not the fun, for a night of torch songs, opera classics, and jazz standards (as well, of course, as new renditions of the familiar Land repertoire, and some of Lex’s own old-timey classics-in-the-making). Special guests likely, don’t miss it!

Lex and the gang are super excited to show off their mad skills for, and share the stage with, a lot of her buddies and colleagues from her original LA homebase on this special night.

The gang will also be around and about town other times as well, as Lex can be found playing Ukelele and singing with Jordan Moser (he’ll be at Flipnotics tomorrow, February 26, for a special birthday show with THAT Damned Band), and sometimes singing and playing guitar with Jarrett Killen (He’ll be at Flips every Wednesday, and at Hole in the Wall every Thursday in March). Also, she and her Lost Boys will be performing an Apple in-store on March 17th at 6pm, and a few other day parties around Austin during the hectic SXSW weekend.

Flip the channels over to the STARZ network this Friday for the latest episode of “Crash”.Lex’s song “Could’ve Had Me” will be featured on the new episode which will air multiple times throughout the night. Set your DVR’s…

Set your tivo’s for the season opener of ABC’s Castle tonight on the television airwaves. Lex’s poignant, resplendent song, “My Fault, Your Mistake” will be featured at the end of the show. One of my personal favorites.

Miss Land and her band will be performing 3 songs on NBC’s “Last Call with Carson Daly” on Friday, June 26th. Set your DVR’s, TiVo’s, digital thingy’s, etc!

Her music has already graced the television airwaves on shows such as “Private Practice”, “Brothers and Sisters”, and “One Tree Hill.” Earlier this Spring on April 7th, Land made another notable appearance on KCRW’s venerable “Morning Becomes Eclectic”. This performance was recently released on May 5th as a “Live From KCRW” EP digitally on iTunes.

Lex and her band will perform “Could’ve Had Me”, “As Much As You Lead”, and “All We’ve Ever Done” on the Friday night edition of Carson Daly.

Hello, again, friends!

Lex has had a busy month so far, she rocked Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa on June 1st in support of Stacy Clark, and headed down to Lestat’s in San Diego to open for Joey Ryan on June 3rd. But don’t worry, it’s not too late to catch a show, she’ll be performing this coming Thursday at Long Beach’s favorite 4th Street coffee shop and venue, Viento Y Agua Coffee House & Gallery. She’ll be hitting the stage around 8:30pm for a special solo set, showcasing some new tunes and other rarities. Friends Lex met at an open mic years ago one fateful night in New York, folk/punk ensemble, Chicken Little!, opens as they make their way through the US on their DIY tour. Stacy Clark also makes an appearance.

A few days later Lex and her boys will be at the historic Mint in Los Angeles for a KCRW Presents show with Oren Lavie, Gary Jules, and Wil Seabrook!

If you’re lucky enough to make it to the Los Angeles Film Festival this year, you’ll be able to catch Lex there on Friday, June 26th.

Also, the multi-talented singer now has a shop on Etsy where her handmade goods are available for sale!

Lex will be performing every Monday in May at the vibe-tastic little venue Zoey’s Cafe in Ventura, CA. Head to the beach and check her out! She’ll have a bunch of cool openers and an excellent time to come down and hang and hear a bunch of material new and old. Lex and crew were in for a “Morning Becomes Eclectic” performance on KCRW this past April 7th with Mr. Jason Bentley and the lovely Ariana Morgenstern. It was a stellar morning for one and all. The session is now available for purchase, consumption, digital hoarding over at the iTunes Music Store. It is available TODAY! Lex sings “Habanera” on the album, venture on over and take a listen!
